Our 10 Favorite Movie Posters of 2017

As we move towards the final third of 2017, we take a look at some of our favorite posters from the past year.  Here's 10 that we think are the best (of posters that have been released so far!).

LOGAN

What a great poster as a send-off to Hugh Jackman's portrayal of Wolverine in Logan.  With the setting sun backdrop shadowing Logan from our perspective, this poster really nails the atmosphere of the movie.

 KONG: SKULL ISLAND

I love everything about this Japanese poster for Kong: Skull Island.  It feels like a classic example of late '80s/early '90s adventure artwork, reminiscent of something you would see on an NES or Sega Genesis cartridge.

 ALIEN: COVENANT

I've always been a fan of minimalist artwork and posters, and I love the way the unhatched egg in this poster seems to be a prequel in and of itself to the iconic cracked egg Alien poster.

 BABY DRIVER

Baby Driver's teaser poster is another great example of minimalist design.  The gun, car, and audiowave-inspired tire tracks tell you almost everything you need to know about this movie.

 THE HITMAN'S BODYGUARD

When this poster was first released, many of us weren't sure it was a real movie until we watched the trailer.  Parody posters have been a little overdone lately, but this teaser poster for The Hitman's Bodyguard was a perfect execution.

 A GHOST STORY

A Ghost Story's poster is one of those posters that is intriguing enough to really draw you in and make you want to learn more about the movie.  Having known nothing about the film, my next step after seeing this poster was to look for a trailer.

 IT

IT, the book, gave me nightmares in middle school.  This poster confirms that nightmares were the appropriate reaction.

 HAPPY DEATH DAY

Another horror movie, and another great poster that reels you in.  And then you see the reflection...

 MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS

There's something about the color palette for this poster that I really love.  It draws you in and makes you feel crisp and cozy like an Autumn evening (with a touch of dread)

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI

Instant classic.  This poster effectively bridges the current Star Wars films with the Original Trilogy, borrowing themes from the (eventually scrapped) Revenge of the Jedi campaign.
